made me giggle

I rarely check Pinterest from anything other than my iPhone, but today when I logged in THIS image captured my full attention.  It reminded me of my husband and how he cannot stand how some of his Facebook friends post vague status updates that are a blatant cry for attention but when asked about it, they always say "I don't want to talk about it" and his thought is then "Why the heck did ya post about it on Facebook?" Haha.

Wacky Wednesday

It is amazing how different I feel when I wear perfume. From blah and tired to smiling when I inhale the scent... By the way, my mood lifting scent is Curious by Britney Spears.

Danielle of The Grey Tabby posted her 30 before 30 list and it got me to thinking about what I really and truly want to accomplish before this milestone birthday of mine coming up on April 4th.

My list includes random things and those close to my heart. It isn't the list that I probably would have made in my 20s. It is more realistic than that but it is jam packed with bunches of stuff -- especially when one considers that I have less than twelve months to accomplish every task on the list. About 8.33 months... 😳😳😳

Jen's 40 before 40

1. Have a booth at the fair. *
2. Have another baby (or be pregnant).
3. Hang all clothes in closet.
4. Clean out under the bed.
5. Buy a new couch for the living room.
6. Let Sox roam living room again.
7. Pull up carpet and refinish wood floor in living room.
8. Go without soda for 80+ days.
9. Run 40 miles even if 1 mile at a time.
10. Reduce kitchen clutter.
11. Have another yard sale.
12. Read 4 books from start to finish.
13. Make "lil girl shop" official. *
14. Donate all clothes I don't sell or use to craft.
15. Work (actually and for real) in my sewing room.
16. Reorganize kitchen.
17. And living room.
18. Lose 20+ pounds (non-baby relate weight).
19. Create mystery boxes of made items to list in store.
20. Buy business cards 1000+.
21. Learn how to use my serger.
22. Learn how to use my cricut.
23. Make 10 pinterest projects.
24. Put wedding photos in albums.
25. Buy hosting space for landing page.
26. Make 40 of the same thing.
27. Times 5.
28. Plus 4.
29. Make 4 denim (beach/backyard picnic) quilts with cotton backing.
30. Make 40 dog chew toys.
31. Donate 40 hours of time to a worthy cause.
32. Attend church regularly.
33. Pray every night.
34. Finish our quilt top and add backing.
35. Make curtains for kitchen (2).
36. And bedroom (4).
37. And sewing room (3).
38. Update blog more regularly.
39. Cook more health conscious.
40. Thank God every day for my life.

* I am working to make the fair booth a reality as well as making lil girl shop official official. I hope to be able to mark both of these tasks as completed very soon!

One of my dear facebook friends posted the money can't buy happiness... image and I just had to share with y'all.

Hope your Wednesday is wonderfully spectacular.

thank you j

So, it's late in the evening on Monday the 9th and I decide that this is the perfect time to blog.  To "reinvigorate" this space.  To make it once again a spot to read the latest that I have to offer.  I am a dedicated IGer and have pretty much stopped most of the gaming I used to do on FB.  Our local community has a group that is much like an online yard sale.  I'm usually checking that page and group fb pages.  Thanks to FB's "favorite" ability... I get updates to my phone when my favorite people post.  A friend reminded me how much fun blogging is and can be.  She reminded me inadvertently on IG (i don't think that was her intention but it was a direct effect from our brief conversation and the post).

thinking

Hmm...

*jumping in*

I like that this space has a little bit of everything.  I want to keep it that way.  But I'm thinking that this space will be more "behind the scenes" of lil girl shop and that the main business, etc. blog will be on my new site [indiemade].  I can't post on the fly at my new site.  And that's ok.  It isn't a deal breaker.

I have merged my personal and business Instagram accounts once again.  I am not going to delete the business account that I created, rather I changed the name on my original account to my business name and made it public.  Lindsey of Out of Alabaster made a fantastic point that "a big part of handmade business is buying into the seller".  And the point that she made was the same reason that I had begun second guessing the split I made back in April.  I had begun to become uncomfortable posting on either IG account.  Thinking about which account I was signed into and if what I wanted to post was appropriate for that particular account.  I want to be me all of the time.

I updated my profile picture on my business fb page today.  It is the same as my personal fb profile picture except my biz picture has my little sewing machine logo in the lower right hand corner.

I also updated my etsy shop's banner this afternoon.  I included my new profile picture as well as the sewing machine logo in color as well as in black and white plus several product images.

Lots of new stuff in the works.  Posting on instagram, twitter, and facebook.  Today is updating pictures in the shop.  Snapping new pictures with a new white background.  Take advantage of 30% coupon in my etsy shop by entering SPRINGCLEAN.  This coupon will expire as soon as all photos have been update.

pinterest revisited

I get email updates from Living Locurto and I simply had to share this particular one.

Amy eloquently states one of my previously mentioned cons with regard to Pinterest. You no longer have control over your photos. Shy of watermarking every single image you post online...

I enjoy surfing the site. It has easily replaced Facebook in my top two favorite apps (#1 is Instagram).

in love with a piece of furniture

I was browsing facebook minding my own business when this image popped up on my feed. OMG!!!

I couldn't believe it. My dream sofa. Someone had it. It actually existed! I had to have it. I have to have it. Just no option other than it being my very own.

Seriously. Look at it. It is amazing.

I phoned the shop. Thank goodness it is semi local. And spoke with a very nice young lady who took my name and number. She said that she would call the owner who was actually at market and give her my details. I was positively giddy when i received the call back from Holly.

As instructed by my husband, I found out the price. Sounded similar to what I was expecting though significantly higher than he was guessing. But not a problem. I will just have a sale in my etsy store to raise the funds to fulfill my dream of owning this masterpiece.

Not sure about the change

*republished with labels

While surfing Facebook earlier this evening, I happened upon a friend's post regarding Etsy adding Pinterest pinning links to all Etsy listings.

I enjoy surfing Pinterest but not sure that I want my listing images pinned quite so easily. It seems like Etsy is jumping on the Pinterest bandwagon.

Due in part to the above information, I've spent a good portion of the evening searching out web designers and WOW!!!

Loads to think about and to consider.

i long for lazy summer days

Butterflies POV
Butterflies POV,
originally uploaded by Reiffhaus.
I follow "kind over matter" on facebook and that they shared this image. Of course, I clicked on the link and had to share this amazing image with ya'll too. It is crazy how beautiful and peaceful this picture is for me. Makes me wish for time to slow and allow me to lay in a field of pretty flowers pondering the clouds for hours on end...

flickr

Slight change of plans... I uploaded all of the images to flickr because it was infinitely faster than uploading to facebook. I uploaded all 400+ to flickr with just a couple of keyboard strokes while uploading to facebook was slower than Christmas with only FIVE images being allowed at a time and the searching... geez louise. Yep, flickr is "the place" to load photos fast.

engaged

As of December 5th 2009, I am engaged.

I am busy crafting wedding stuffs as well as crafting fabulous items from old clothes and reclaimed fabric scraps. Wedding stuffs are for me and have a deadline. The rest... help me relax when wedding planning or everyday life get to be too much or when I just need a break and a moment or three to make something else. Once. :)

Most of the wedding stuffs are repeats - items that I need to make look identical either five or one hundred and seventy five times.

My daughter took pictures for me of my entire current inventory group, which I am uploading to facebook in another window. I will be listing these items on etsy this week as time permits. Convo me on etsy or message me on facebook - if you would like a custom or reserved listing.
