Summer schedule

The Saturday after school let out for summer, I began working for a new arts & crafts store in town. I also added a selection of my handmade items to a local shop. June passed by in a blur of working and taking my daughter to her summer job at a local water park. The hubbub of activity did not end as July arrived. Nope, it was even busier. I was grateful for our camping trip in the middle of the month. Five days without Internet was nice.

As July ends, I am looking forward to the structure of the school year. With school not actually starting until August 27th, I need to create the structure I am craving that will allow for more creativity and new products in the store.

Today, my best friend and I went to the movies. We've been talking about doing this all summer and today was finally the day. We also are going to try harder to make time for just us, which is difficult due to her having four kids and a significant other plus me with an active teenager and husband.

I am trying to take a photo-a-day during this my 39th year and I heart instagram. I like this photo of myself.

thinking

Hmm...

*jumping in*

I like that this space has a little bit of everything.  I want to keep it that way.  But I'm thinking that this space will be more "behind the scenes" of lil girl shop and that the main business, etc. blog will be on my new site [indiemade].  I can't post on the fly at my new site.  And that's ok.  It isn't a deal breaker.

I have merged my personal and business Instagram accounts once again.  I am not going to delete the business account that I created, rather I changed the name on my original account to my business name and made it public.  Lindsey of Out of Alabaster made a fantastic point that "a big part of handmade business is buying into the seller".  And the point that she made was the same reason that I had begun second guessing the split I made back in April.  I had begun to become uncomfortable posting on either IG account.  Thinking about which account I was signed into and if what I wanted to post was appropriate for that particular account.  I want to be me all of the time.

I updated my profile picture on my business fb page today.  It is the same as my personal fb profile picture except my biz picture has my little sewing machine logo in the lower right hand corner.

I also updated my etsy shop's banner this afternoon.  I included my new profile picture as well as the sewing machine logo in color as well as in black and white plus several product images.

google plus plus

Good or bad, I combined my Blogger profile with my Google+ profile.  We will see how this all plays out though I can only go back to the Blogger profile within 30 days.

I did enjoy the "hang out" feature earlier this month when our ETSY GIRLS OF INSTAGRAM group live chatted and I finally got to put voices to faces and names.  I hope to take part in another group "hang out" very soon.

I like gmail and blogger.  And google is my go to search engine.  And so, I'm sure that I'll come around and absolutely adore Google+ though GoogleMaps street view still kinda creeps me out.  It's cool but then gets weird.  Ya know?  When ya think of yourself being the one that is seen...

Anyway...

I have added initial tanks to the shop.  The current inventory of tanks were taken straight out of my closet.  They were laundered and then I added an initial cut from my fabric scrap stash.  I think this first batch of initial tanks are an eco-friendly way to update your summer wardrobe.  I am open to custom orders and special requests.

I am working to build inventory for both the shop as well as for 2012 craft shows.

Happy Mother's Day

Today has been a nice and relaxing Sunday. I'm currently enjoying the fabulous Texas weather sitting in a double foldy chair (pictured) with my feet propped up in our front yard in the shade. Could almost fall asleep and take a little nap. :)

In honor of Mother's Day, I am sharing a photo of my sweet Mama and me on my wedding day and a photo of my amazing daughter and me taken the same day.

My latest finished and photographed item for the shop is the airplane travel pillow cover (pictured) with the word BABY embellished across the front.

News

My husband surprised me with my dream sofa yesterday! It was made even more amazing because I had spent the day as a substitute teacher in third grade yesterday. I couldn't {still can't} stop smiling when I saw my dream come true *in* our living room.

I am sewing today and focusing on completing the remaining gifts of 2012 for four super fantastic IG girls. it brings me joy to make gifts. And surprises at that.
